What we did today: In class we shared our reactions to select crimes and punishments in Hammurabi's Code.  Then we looked at the confessions of the dead in Egypt.  Students were given a two column chart to compare how certain issues were dealt with in both societies.

Today students began setting up and experimenting with the materials they will use for the lab: Investigating Faults. Students explored how what variables in the experiment they will change and keep the same. Tomorrow students will write their procedures, carry out the lab and collect data.

What we did today: Today we went over the homework from Tuesday about Egyptian writing, deciphered hieroglyphics, and started analyzing laws and punishments from Hammurabi's code.

Science

Today students began an investigation into plate boundaries and how they affect the magnitude of an earthquake. We discussed plate boundaries, faults, stress/tension and frictional resistance. Tomorrow students will design an experiment and collect data that explores how frictional resistance along a fault affects the way rock moves in a earthquake.

Today we reviewed concepts related to Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics. We watched a video called Continents Adrift and took notes. We also went over the answers from Friday's quiz.
 

Technology

Students finished up presenting their College Research Projects.  Tomorrow we will have our final keyboarding test.  Thursday we will work on a little Excel, I will not see students on Friday!

-Argument Essay: Revise the last draft. Use checklist to make sure you have all of the required info, add transition words, use the thesaurus to improve word choice, fix spelling/grammar errors.

-Argument essay due tomorrow! Make sure to bring your typed, final draft to class. You must include a reference page with a minimum of 3 sources.

Science

Today we finished our Plate Boundaries foldable. We looked at maps of different plate boundaries and discussed the types of land formations that would be found there. Students need to understand these boundaries and the formations that can result from them for tomorrow's quiz. Student should also look over their Earth's Layer foldable and section review questions (Sea-Floor Spreading/Theory of Continental Drift) in order to prepare for the Friday Quiz.

Science

Today students began reading and working on a foldable that explores plate boundaries. We discussed how the plates move at these boundaries, where on Earth they can be found, and the types of land features that result from these movements. Tomorrow we will finish up our foldable and review for our Friday Quiz which will be over plate tectonics.
 

Technology

Science

Today students read about the evidence of Wegener's Theory of Continental Drift, as well as sea-floor spreading.  They then answered the review questions at the end of each section.

Today students presented their 3D models of the earth to the teacher. They also completed a reflection survey regarding the process of creating the project and personal/group participation. Sea-floor spreading models and project sketches were also checked in for completion.

FARAH Spanish 1 1.8.15

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
We started translating the Fotonovela script that we've watched in class. Most students completed approximately half of the script. We will complete the translation tomorrow, and watch the Fotonovela again. There will be no language lab tomorrow. 

HOMEWORK:
Students should be reviewing the vocabulary and concepts from Chapters 1, 2, and the first half of 3. There will be a midterm exam in the beginning of February.

We finally finished up presentations and evaluations for our Cyberbullying.  If a student has not presented yet they are to come to come to me during lunch to present.  Tomorrow we will be moving on to our final project - College Research.  Two weeks to plan, design, and create the power point presentation.  The last week of the card marking will be for presentation.  All project explanations and rubrics are to the right in the Technology folder.
