Today we started to review for our test on Tuesday.  They must finish their review if it is not complete.  We are running low on tissue if anyone would like to donate a box.  Thank you in advance.

We also went over the Self-Assessment we will use to see how the projects cover the concepts students are accountable for understanding from the Inside the Earth unit. Finally, we completed a Friday Quiz.

What we did today: 1st, 6th, and 7th hours continued the power point slide show about ancient technology.  All other hours were at the Diary of Anne Frank play field trip.

2.26.15 FARAH Spanish 1

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
I passed back the quizzes today. The class average was 17.5. We reviewed stem changing verbs 'tener' and 'venir,' and spent the remainder of the hour working on our 'Tres en rayos' projects. 


TAREA:

'Tres en rayos' projects are due tomorrow. The 'tener/venir' quiz has been postponed until Monday due to a Band event.

Mercer-Humanities/History

What we did today: Today we started the power point slide show about ancient technology.  We covered pottery, the plow, and some classes started irrigation.

Today we had a 2 page worksheet on similar figures for homework.  If it is not finished, it is homework.

Continued work on Putting It All Together Digital Projects. Students should work on these presentations outside of class. All projects will be due Friday, February 27th.

What we did today:

What we did today: Today students took a summative assessment on pastoral nomads.

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
We went over last nights homework (p. 104, ex. 1-3). We began working on p. 105 (ex. 4-6), which is due tomorrow. Some students had already finished the assignment, and were able to start on our project based review for Chapter 3, 'Tres en rayos.' 

WHAT'S COMING UP: 
due 2.25 p. 105, ex. 4-6
2.25 20 Point Quiz on er/ir verbs from chapter 3. Students should know definitions and how to conjugate the verbs.
2.27 10 point Quiz on verbs venir/tener
2.27 ''Tres en rayos' project due. Students will be given class time to complete these projects.  

Science

Students continued to work on their "Putting It All Together" Digital Projects. Some finished up research and others were able to begin designing their presentations.

HW: ALL research should be complete by the beginning of class tomorrow. Projects need to be complete by Friday, February 27th.

Science

Today students were assigned a unit project called "Putting It All Together" in which they will present the major concepts we have learned through the Inside the Earth unit in the form of a Prezi or PowerPoint presentation. In class today, students simply worked to gather and organize information they feel is important to include.

Students may continue to work on this research at home. Please do not forget to keep track of sources used!

Mercer-Humanities/History

What we did today: Today we went over the final pieces of information for the students to complete their study guide for the assessment tomorrow.

Homework: All students should be going over their study guides.  If they are filling them out at home tonight, then they haven't been keeping up.  Hopefully they will be ready for tomorrow.
 

FARAH SPANISH 1

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
My apologies for being remiss in posting assignments lately. 
Today, we reviewed 'tener idioms,' and worked on the 'Recapitulación,' (exercises 1-3) on page 104 in our textbook.

TAREA: 
Finish exercises 1-3 on page 104, if you didn't finish it in class. 

QUIZ: Wednesday, February 25 - we will have a quiz on 'er' and 'ir' verbs. Students should know the meanings of these verbs from Chapter 3, and how to conjugate them. ('venir' and 'tener' are NOT on this quiz)

Homework starts on page 91, #3 - 14.  Quiz corrections are due Wednesday.

What we did today: Today morning classes worked on a small group activity analyzing the demands of the 1963 march on Washington.
In the afternoon we went to see the movie Selma.

Today we watched some short clips that explore earthquakes: deformation, plate boundaries, seismic waves and earthquake measurement. We add any new information into our notes from yesterday. We also played a unit review game.

What we did today: Today students watched a Power Point presentation about the struggle for civil rights from 1863-1963.  This was shown to go along with the Selma movie field trip tomorrow.

Science

Today we completed our discussion and notes on Earthquakes. The notes include: the parts of a an earthquake, earthquakes at various plate boundaries, seismic waves (body and surface), and measuring earthquakes.  

We also physically acted out the motion of each type of seismic wave: P-Waves, S-Waves and Surface Waves.

What we did today: Today students read and analyzed four documents dealing with pastoral nomadic communities.  They filled out a chart documenting their interpretations.

Homework: Current event assignment is due this Thursday due to the field trip on Wednesday.
 

Science

Today we discussed our Frictional Resistance Labs. We reflected upon the results and some of the errors or issues we may have encountered. Mrs. Cartwright's class worked on vocabulary review with partners and Mrs. Mohr's class began discussing and taking notes on the parts and causes of an earthquake.

HW: For those who have not yet turned in your Lab Report, please do so as soon as possible so your grade is not too greatly affected.

What we did today: Today we went over the comparisons between laws and punishments in Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt.  Students then took a practice summative assessment to see how well they knew the material.  This will not be graded, it is only an indicator for the student to reflect on.

Homework: The next current event is due Thursday February 12th, due to the field trip on Wednesday the 11th.
